It’s sometimes good to get away…
Do you know what? I’m actually beginning to enjoy going away. Yes, I’m beginning to enjoy leaving Fuzeta. And why? Because it reminds me of exactly why…
Mmmm… thinking about it, I know it’s bad but yes, I’ve written nothing at all recently. Why? Well, I’ve been busy sorting out affairs back in the UK (I’ll post about that next time, maybe), and to be honest, I haven’t felt the urge.
To write, I have to be in the right mood, in the right place, and I have to have something to write about. I’ve been here in Fuzeta for a few years now and more than likely, I’m starting to repeat myself in what I do write. I rarely leave the place, except to head back to the UK, and I really don’t want to bore you with repetitive stories of being out walking, going for a swim, having a cold beer… you know what I mean.
But tonight, I felt the urge and thought about where to go, since the important part of the statement above is maybe being in the right place. I really have to be in the right place and when I say the right place, I mean, on my own, in a bar, supping a beer, feeling relaxed, letting my thoughts run free.
So, tonight I headed to Shack 2, to Cubanito. I haven’t done this for a while and I’d almost forgotten how much I love it.
I walked in, bought a beer and sat down at the table in the corner by the bar.
Yes, it must be 30 degrees and everyone is outside, but me? I love the solitude of being inside, of having the music from the speaker wash over my head, with the waitress screaming orders across the bar (well, if I’m honest, I don’t enjoy that so much, especially when it’s right in my ear), but anyway, I simply love being on my own with my thoughts, with quick access to the bar, with solitude.
Yes, occasionally, people I know say ‘hi’ and shake my hand as they buy a beer (Carlos from Moncarapacho just wandered up – I haven’t seen him for months, so that was good) but on the whole, I’m left to my own devices, left to think, left to write, left to let my thought’s run free – and I bloody love it.
This evening, the music is mellow. I don’t recognise any of it, but I’m loving it. On Tuesday, I’m flying back to the UK once more (bloody hell, 6:20am flight which means a 3:30am Uber – yes, I’m anal about being there on time) so tonight I’m out enjoying what I enjoy most: being on my own, having a beer and writing. Am I back? Who knows? I have lots to do back in the UK (which as I’ve said, I’ll explain maybe, maybe next week), but I’ve written three pieces tonight, drunk too much beer (Goram – I have no idea how to spell his name, but for some reason, he’s seemed surprised at the quantity of beer I’ve drunk and the rapidity), and enjoyed more than I expected.
I bloody love it here.
Jeez, am I being repetitive once more? Sorry…

The other night, I wandered up to Nanobrew to have a few beers and enjoyed it as usual. Then, on the way home, as you do, I nipped into ‘O Pescador’ for…
